2018 PDX Co-op Collab Ribbon Ridge Pinot Noir
- Grapes and Soil: Sourced from a two-decades old vineyard in Oregon’s Ribbon Ridge AVA. The site is LIVE certified, organically farmed, and family-owned. Located on the western-most slope of the Chehalem Mountains, the vineyard sits at 500-650 feet, with layers of sedimentary, Willakenzie soils. The vineyard is largely dry-farmed, which is environmentally sound, but also forces grape vines to dig deeper into the soil. This combination of substrate and climate yields distinctly bold and structured wines.
- Winemaking: This wine is unfined and unfiltered. Very low sulfur additions. Aged in French oak barrels for 28+ months.
- Flavor profile: Deep red color shows high extraction from the skins. Aromas of Cherry, Raspberry, and Bubble Gum dominate over more subtle Cola and Eucalyptus. Juicy dark red fruit with flavors of forest loam and floral notes. This wine is ideal for grilled vegetables, mushrooms, and other umami-rich foods. Good structure and acid balance match well with roasted tomatoes, goat cheese, and rich sauces.

2019 PDX Co-op Collab White Field Blend
- Grapes and Soil: sourced from a unique, small, family-owned vineyard in the foothills of the Cascades near Scotts Mills. Defined by Volcanic, Nekia soils and moderate to cool summer weather, the high west-facing slope is dry-farmed and carefully managed for biological diversity to promote beneficial insects and soil health. Six different grapes varietals are planted in this small 11 acre vineyard.
- Winemaking: This is a true winemaker’s field blend. Throughout harvest, a portion of the vineyard’s six varietals were combined to co-ferment in a single vessel until dry. A combination of 40% Pinot Gris and 10% each Gewürztraminer, Riesling, Muller Thurgau, and Pinot Noir. Unfined and unfiltered. Stainless steel fermentation and un-oaked. This is a real expression of the vineyard.
- Flavor Profile: A pale straw color tending to pink (from the inclusion of fresh-pressed Pinot Noir). Aromas of green apple, lychee, and french melon. Opening flavors of sweet green apple, meyer lemon, and orange blossom honey give way to a finish of tart key lime with lingering spice and minerality. This is a flexible, multi-faceted white. It’s aroma and solid mouth feel allows it to stand up to strong flavors, like artichokes or caramelized onions, but the tart finish is a solid pairing for spicy Thai or Sichuan foods.

PDX Co-op Collab Rosé
- Grapes and Soil: These Grenache, Cabernet Franc, and Cabernet Sauvignon grapes were sourced from a vineyard perched above the Columbia River in Central Washington. Vines in this region dig deep into the mineral rich soils laid down from the ancient Missoula floods, producing remarkable depth of character. In a sea of large industrial operations, this particular vineyard was designed with sustainable farming in mind. Tight controls on irrigation and limited inputs are good for the environment, but also the quality of grapes.
- Winemaking: Blending Rosé from “big” red grapes can be a challenge. But careful winemaking yields a light to medium body and almost electric pink - picking the grapes early in the morning, keeping them cold, and applying a very light hand on the press. Low sulfur additions and aged on the lees for several months. Vegan. 13.3 % ABV.
- Flavor Profile: This wine displays light flavors of strawberry, kiwi, kefir lime leaf, and lemon peel. The medium body lends a finish full of minerals, salinity, and spice. This level of balance is notable in a domestic Rosé at this price point. Pair this wine with briny olives, fruit, chèvre. Its weight holds up well against strong summer flavors like pesto, ratatouille, or phad thai.
